Enable High Color Icons in Windows 95 and later The following works IF your Video Card takes 16 Bit to 32 Bit color! If your using a version of Windows in which the icons are not HIGH Color(16bit/32bit) but rather at 256 colors and below, you easily enable it! Follow these steps: Open Registry Editor Go to "START" Menu > "RUN" and type in: regedit Once the Registry Editor opens go the following root folders: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics (HKCU) If you don't see the String: Shell Icon BPP Then create a New one. Right click any empty space on the Right of Registry Editor, select "New" and then click on STRING VALUE Once created, rename the Value to: Shell Icon BPP (WITH SPACES) Open the Value. Once open, in the VALUE DATA box key in: 32 (32=32Bit color High color) After that click [OK] and close registry! Restart the PC.
