When you run MS-DOS-based applications on a Compaq Prolinea 4/33 with a VGA monitor, the screen may flash.

Compaq has confirmed that a defective system board may not allow MS-DOS-based applications to access some VGA-specific functions, which can result in flashing and other unpredictable behavior.

To correct this problem, contact Compaq for a replacement motherboard.

Applications that may be affected include MS-DOS Shell, Microsoft Diagnostics (color), DoubleSpace maintenance program, Microsoft Backup, Lotus 1-2-3, WordPerfect, Norton Utilities, and QEMM Manifest.
