To convert between the MASS-11 file format and Microsoft Word, use either of the following methods.

Method 1: Save in a Compatible Format

MASS-11 versions 8.5 and 8.6 for VAX or PC can import and export the following formats, which all Word products can read and write:

• Microsoft Rich Text Format (RTF)
• WordPerfect 5.x
• RFT-DCA

Versions of MASS-11 earlier than version 8.5 support import and export of RFT-DCA format only.

According to MicroSystems Engineering Technical Support, these MASS-11 import and export options retain only baseline formatting. They retain text, margins, and character attributes, but do not retain such advanced layout features as tables or special characters.

Method 2: Obtain a Third-Party Conversion Solution

Several third-party converter vendors and conversion bureaus also support conversion between MASS-11 and formats that Word can read and write (including native Word format).
